This week, I followed quite a few twitter pages relating to my topic of choice– saving wild horses from slaughter. Some of the most interesting pages I found were @savingamehorses and @GhostFleetFarm.

I also followed a few of my colleagues that I had missed in the first round of following that I did when I first started my account. I also responded to a few of my classmates by retweeting their tweets. My responses were mainly along the lines of “Wow, that’s terrible!” or “Wow, those animals are cute!”

The best thing I saw this week (and tweeted) was an animal meme of a capybara sharing his struggles. As I did the first time I used Twitter, I still do feel that this platform is a great tool for research.

However, I find that it is very easy to get sidetracked from the intended research purpose. For that reason, I will visit Twitter only for the specific purpose of research, and only visit pages that I need to. Otherwise, Google News and Academic Search Complete are serving me pretty well.
